I decided earlier this week that my office needed a racetrack in it, or at last something resembling a racetrack....

All ordered! I’m building a mini-lego Le Mans! Would it be sacrilege to build up some WGI armco and grandstand? I just love me some baby blue to scrape against...
Also bonus for office at home, because nostalgia:

My favorite movie as a kid. No one tell my wife this all on the credit card. :)

I really like the idea of those sets, but they’ve made them so small and all the proportions look off.

I’m still waiting on my 911 GT3RS to ship but when it does I will be getting a $25 gift card because of the delay. I’m not sure if I want to get the Speed Champions R18 and something else or apply it towards the Mini Cooper.

I can see the complaint. I think they good together. Individually, I think they could use some work, but I’m hoping that proportions help the cars stay identifiable in a clustered group like the empty shelf I’m planning on filling.
Also really wishing there was a Ford GT and/or an Aston.

They needed to be about this scale to strike, what in my mind, is a sweet spot for parts count, ease of build, playability, and price.

The big sets are pretty sweet. I’ll post up some pics when they arrive and are built - might help you in your decision.

I have one that an ex actually made herself of WGI on my wall at home. :)

My thing is that the R18 doesn’t use the entirety of the gift card. I don’t know what I would get to go along with it.

I really just want them to hold scale constant on the bigger models. I do like that there are some cool cars on the correct scale for a minifig, though.

The R8?

R18 e-tron.

I was saying you could get the R8 with the rest of the gift card ;)

I believe the new Beetle is going to be the same scale as the bus.

I honestly don’t really like the R8 set.

Camaro drag race pack? Raptor towing Mustang pack? The 24 Endurance car! That’s a great looking one.

I would do the 24 Hour Endurance car but after I build the 911 I won’t have the space to store it. I am leaning towards the Mini Cooper at this point, though the R18 may find its way into my cart. This is still a month off through as I won’t be getting the gift card until the 911 ships which isn’t supposed to be until August at this point.

That is disappointing. It really feels like they should give you the card in the interim so you can order something to build.

It’s so that you can’t get the card and then cancel your order.

I can understand that point of view, but from the lifetime value of a customer perspective, the $25 is inconsequential. Making you happy while you wait, especially with a gift card that just sells more of their product (seriously, it’s not like you are going to only spend exactly $25 - you are waiting on a $300 kit) should be paramount in their eyes. The cost of doing business is the couple people who may think: hey, here’s an arbitrage opportunity - i can cancel my order and place it again waiting just as long but now at $25 off! My first thought here is - that’s too much effort for only $25; give me something else that’s also cool!
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
[[P.S. I get to be the 4 stroke; you have to be the 2. Burn that oil.]]

I feel like if it wasn’t an automated thing they would do that. But this is an automated process due to the delay. They make enough of of the Porsche to cover the card but the automated process doesn’t send the card until the set ships. Though considering the fact the set has been delayed for a month and a half (notified in mid June that the won’t be shipping until August) due to damage during shiping what kind of solution they are coming up with. I almost expect precision fitted soft closed cell foam at this point.
